I appreciate all your links and helps for apush !!! Regarding the 2nd Red Scare I think you should include new information that is now settled understanding on this time period. The documentary by NOVA and PBS
titled “Secrets, Lies, and Atomic Spies” makes it abundantly clear that the U.S. was indeed infiltrated at the highest levels by communists spies. In the State Dept. the White House, Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines hundreds of spies communicated through code over the Telegram apparatus of which we were able to break the code and the Venona Files along with KGB files translated in the 1990s had taught us that indeed we should have been scared and on ALERT. Our Atomic secrets were stolen from Los Alamos “Manhatten Project” via treasonous scientists and communists spies like the Mr. Rosenberg. Mr. Rosenberg’s wife was indeed aware and complicit with her husbands work; although I agree she was not a bonfire spy.

You might also reference the Annals of Communism series authored by Klehr and Haynes, whose access to the (at the time) newly opened Soviet Archives provide documentary evidence of the degree of infiltration as well as the ‘receipts’ and data gained by their employment of folks such as the Rosenbergs and Hiss.

The facts prove conclusively, that while McCarthy was an egomaniac who personally abused the process, that with regards to the degree of infiltration, Chicken Little was an optimist.
